Happy Mother's Day

My 9th mother's day, what a surprise! What a lovely poem! It really makes me emotional:

My mom is really nice,
She is good to me.
She makes me dinner,
She is really pretty.

Whatever I say she does wrong,
She always proves it's right.
I just can't beat her,
She always is so bright.

She always yells at me,
When I don't do my homework,
Well, there is another reason,
When I don't do my classwork.

I always ask her,
If I could have a brother.
She never does it,
I just know I won't be a brother.

She sends me to other classes,
Just like a good mother,
I don't really care,
Because I love her.

Run for School Vice President

"Mommy, I will run for a vice president". "Yeah, definitely, Mommy will help you on this when you grew up!" "No, you are not listening to me! I am talking about P.S. 101 student vice president! I will run for it next year!”

That was a big wow to me! Here is my son Eric. You have no idea how much time we spent in trying to let him open his mouth to speak up. He is a very shy boy. He is always intimidated to talk even privately. He changed quite a bit in these years but not as good as I thought he could be. But I never lose my hope on his public speak anxiety.

Should I take this as a good sign he actually notices that public speech is actually a "must need" in American life? Eric even told me that he already asked some exiting student president, vice president, treasury, for the trick to run for a position. He even decided the content of his running flier. "Mommy, it is too late to practice my speaking now?” "Absolutely not too late, my son, as I tell you everyday, you can always practice it with every single person you meet daily!”

See, he is singing "Dancing Queen" now. "It is my happy and lucky day today. I don't know why Mommy!” It is my lucky day as well! My dear son!

Enrichment Program

Today I got a chance to pick Eric up from the Community House. Always, he is very gratified to see me and very surprised.

He talked me through what he learned from the enrichment program this morning and what interesting things happened during the day. Honestly, he changed a quite bit this year. He likes to share his secret with me, needless to say, which is very joyful.

On our way to the subway station, we bumped into Kyle's mother. She gently touched Eric's head saying that "Eric, I know you are in enrichment program. How wonderful you are! I still remembered you couldn't say even one English Letter. But now, you are one of the top students in Grade 4. You are absolutely outstanding!".

That is true! It was Eric's difficult time when he came back from China 4 years ago. But he did it!

Mom is so proud of you!
